Metri Society came into existence as a result of the motivation and personal initiative of its founder, Mrs. Mamta Goel, to enhance the socio-economic status of the underprivileged people. We are a Shimla Based NGO which was registered in 2015.The Society has more than 60 members comprising ladies from different walks, spheres of life and society. The members work as a team to provide social service in field of women empowerment, child development, health-care, education, and environment conservation. We also try to provide help required by other sections of society like senior citizens, laborers etc. Social welfare events and projects are planned, organized and implemented by team members of the society. As a group of women, we recognize the power of solidarity and collective action. We encourage women from all walks of life to join our organization, contribute their skills and expertise, and be part of a supportive network that fosters growth and collaboration. Time, money and effort for the projects are contributed by the members of the society only. Our NGO is founded on the principles of gender equality, women empowerment, and social justice.

A Glimpse Of The PROJECTS , ENDEAVOURS , INITATIVES Undertaken By Metri Society

Glimpse of the Projects done in last few years

  • Conducted an organ donation awareness program in collaboration with SOTTO; 40 members registered as donors.
  • Adopted 158 TB patients, provided nutritious kits, and monitored their health.
  • Supported “Rain Basera” labor shelter with beddings.
  • Organized free health checkup and blood test camps.
  • Felicitated 40 field workers with mementos and room heaters.
  • Provided COVID-19 relief supplies and fed stray animals.
  • Financially supported underprivileged girls’ marriages.
  • Celebrated Women’s Day with rag pickers, promoting hygiene and distributing essentials.
  • Celebrated Independence Day with school children, providing lunch and gifts. Participated in cultural festivals, supporting spiritual and traditional events.
  • Collaborated with other NGOs for art and singing competitions, rewarding talent. Assisted in restoring a fire-damaged local shop.
  • Regularly distributed essential items to school children, underprivileged women, and laborers.

Metri Society is a non-governmental organization set-up with an objective to promote green development with an all round empowerment of all sections of the society. In the prevailing scenario, where the world is facing challenges to sustain, the ones who are impoverished or underprivileged need our help and with our organization we put forward the approaches and strategies that would be of help to them. We work in cohesion to save our environment with the upliftment of the less-privileged sections of the society while raising awareness about the measures that can be taken on the individual front to maintain public and personal hygiene, preservation of heritage and art, helping the elderly citizens, and protecting our environment. And, we are open to all for serving as a volunteer or raising funds and awareness as a sponsor for our overall development programs. You never know, our bit could be a life-saver for others.
